acupuncture
Acupuncture offers a well-documented and researched model of effective treatment for a variety of conditions. Based on a system of energy pathways in the body, called meridians, it uses fine sterile needles on points in the body to bring about balance, and assist in healing. Treatment is aimed at the underlying 'root' of your condition, as well as the symptoms.
Common benefits of acupuncture include:
-
improved blood circulation
-
decreased blood pressure
-
strengthened immune system
-
pain management
-
stress relief
-
reduced inflammation
-
emotional regulation

Cosmetic Acupuncture (Facial Treatment)
Many people seek a natural way to rejuvenate their skin, reduce wrinkles, and feel and look younger and healthier. Facial Acupuncture provides a natural alternative to a surgical facelift or chemical treatments. Combined with Gua Sha and Facial Cupping, this soothing facial treatment produces refreshed and tonified skin. Clients will experience a relaxing and rejuvenating session, starting with very fine facial needles to promote collagen, reduce lines, and lift and tighten saggy or puffy areas. This is followed by facial Gua Sha, which improves collagen production and blood circulation, bringing improvements to skin tone and firmness, decreasing wrinkles and tightening pores. The treatment is completed by facial cupping, which creates a vacuum and lifts the facial tissues, encouraging lymphatic drainage and reducing any inflammation such as pimples.
Benefits of Facial Cupping, Gua Sha & Acupuncture:
-
Increases local blood circulation of the skin, bringing oxygen and promoting collagen production
-
Increases nutrients brought to the epidermis
-
Tightens ‘loose’ red veins
-
Softens scar tissue
-
Plumps and smoothes lines and wrinkles
-
Releases rigid muscles associated with TMJ discomfort
-
Relieves sinus inflammation and promotes lymph drainage
-
Reduces puffiness and tonifies ‘saggy’ areas such as jowls
-
Non-invasive and natural

CUPPING
Cupping Therapy is an ancient eastern method of healing that has recently grown in popularity in the west due to its health benefits. The suction created by cupping lifts the skin and underlying muscle tissue, promoting fresh blood flow to an area, and easing tension. Among the benefits is its ability to reduce muscle tightness and support relaxation.
Cupping has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions. It is particularly effective at easing conditions that create muscle aches and pains. Way to Wellness offers dry cupping only.
Benefits of Cupping:
-
Releases tension by stretching and separating muscle fibres
-
Promotes relaxation and reduces stress, by sedating the nervous system
-
Increases blood circulation, bringing fresh nutrients and oxygenation into affected areas, to promote a healthy condition and healing
-
Increases collagen production and tissue repair
-
Aids in the reduction of cellulite and tones skin
-
Detoxifies and reduces inflammation

What to expect from Cupping
Plastic or silicone suction cups are used to lift the layers of tissues in an affected area on the body. A suction gun is used to extract the air out of the cup, creating this pressure. People using dry cupping may experience mild marks or circular bruising where the cups are placed, which typically fades within a few days. This is a healthy part of the process of encouraging fresh blood to circulate in the treated areas, circulating nutrients and replacing the old or “stagnant” blood.
Cupping is quick, with cups staying on for between 2 to 15 minutes, and the treatment is incorporated into the full acupuncture session if required. It is also possible to have a half-hour treatment of cupping only, which includes “flash-cupping” (where silicone cups are used to glide over the skin, creating a massage-like effect). This is followed by the more traditional static cupping as described above.
If you wish to include cupping in your treatment, please discuss this with your acupuncturist in advance.

ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE
A mild electric current is passed between selected acupuncture needles during this treatment, enhancing the therapeutic benefits. Electro stimulation is incorporated into a regular acupuncture session, achieving deep relaxation and reduced inflammation within the muscle fibres. This promotes the circulation of qi, making it especially effective for pain conditions.
